She also finds immense satisfaction in collaborating with parents and educators to nurture the well-being of children and students, both at home and in school settings.
Monalisa firmly believes in the innate capacity of clients to take charge of their behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, empowering them to make choices that lead to problem resolution. She sees herself as a facilitator in this process, with clients holding the key to their own lives. As a counselor, Monalisa's primary goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness through their life experiences, leading to enhanced confidence, self-esteem, independence, mental well-being, and the ability to navigate life's intricate challenges adeptly. She employs various counseling approaches and techniques tailored to each client's unique needs, drawing from family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy (choice theory), and play therapy. Her services are always client-centered and collaborative, with goal-setting being a joint endeavor.
Monalisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor, duly approved by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (Lic. No. 76352). She has generously dedicated her time to volunteering at a domestic violence shelter, with Big Brother Big Sisters of America, in a retirement home, and in disaster and humanitarian relief efforts in Houston. In her leisure moments, she cherishes quality family time, social interactions, exploring new places, practicing meditation, and indulging in her love for fishing.
