Markia is a graduate student currently pursuing a Master of Education in Counseling and Development at Lamar University. She graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Psychology minor. Post-graduation, she plans on pursuing a career as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading, and binge-watching shows.
Markia believes that everyone has the ability to transform their lives from within. She views her role in therapy as being a guide to help you along your journey to wellness. Markia wants her clients to know that everyone deserves therapy, and that they are worth being healed. The three core values that Markia holds to the highest regard are: Empathy, Empowerment, and Diversity Inclusion.
Markia has worked in the social services realm for five years and has a passion for helping others. She believes in a holistic approach to counseling, while providing “therapy for the soul” to her clients. Her distinctive philosophy of counseling is centered around Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution- Focused Based Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Talk therapy. Markia wants to show her clients how to cultivate the tools that they have within, to help transform their life for the better. Her overall principle as a therapist is to provide her clients with the tools to build a life worth living.
