LaMonica is a compassionate and empathetic counselor who works to create an environment of growth, safety, and peace. She believes a major key to therapeutic success is to begin with a foundation of acceptance, positivity, and trust. Clients are unique and are the experts of their experiences. LaMonica strives to serve as a reflection and collaborative support accompanying clients on their journey toward self love, joy, and healing.
Life can be quite complex, therefore LaMonica's counseling style is comprehensive and not one size fits all. Her techniques include client-centered, cognitive behavioral, narrative, and solution-focused therapies among others. LaMonica has worked with clients who have a history of various challenges including: depression, anxiety, substance abuse, anger management, grief, social phobia, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, domestic violence, psychosis, psychiatric hospitalization, homelessness, and legal difficulties including the criminal justice system. She believes in empowering clients with education and understanding as well as tools to set and achieve their goals.
LaMonica is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, Lic. No. 68976. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2005 and Master of Arts in Professional Counseling in 2009. LaMonica is certified in Mental Health First Aid, CPR, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She is in good standing with Texas Counseling Association and American Counseling Association.
