Qingxuan “Brandon” Yi is pursuing his M.Ed. in Counseling at the University of Houston – Main Campus. He is a Student Intern at Master Peace Wellness & Consulting, PLLC training to become an effective, kind Licensed Professional Counselor.
Brandon doesn’t think clients have any “faults” for their concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, or traumatic experiences… Nobody should be blamed for their problems because there’s no one expecting bad things. However, clients can learn actions to take in order to improve the situation. We are not fully powerless or helpless. When clients are still struggling and searching for help from counselors, they are already strong. Brandon is here to help clients explore their potential and empower them.
Brandon’s modality to counseling is Client-Centered. Clients are their own experts in his opinion. He also utilizes techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). Clients’ own need and goals are always his priority, and Brandon views himself as a facilitator of clients’ goals.
And yes, Brandon is Asian and views himself as a minority, but he believes that also helps him have a better understanding to be culturally competent when working with clients. Brandon is always ready to provide a safe place for you to seek help and express.
He, Qingxuan “Brandon” Yi, has a dream. He wishes all clients to be the owners of themselves.
